Happy birthday, OSGeo!

OSGeo turns 5! Happy birthday…
Time flies – already five years passed after the “Chicago weekend” on 4th February 2006 when the Free and Open Source GIS umbrella foundation, today known as OSGeo Foundation was designed and established. Indeed, it was an intensive weekend when a group of GIS project leaders and likeminded people gathered to address the need of joining various communities into a new ecosystem.
As of now, more than 15,000 unique subscribers read and discuss in more than 150 mailing lists and other cyber-media. OSGeo has become the central place for collaborative development of open geospatial technologies, public data and educational material.
Looking forward to the next 5 years of activity!
